Springday 2006
Romania is in Europe, but is Europe in Romania, as well?

Hello! We are a small group of students attending “Ioan Slavici” High School in Satu Mare. We wanted to celebrate Europe’s day, so together with our French and English teachers, we decided to make a survey in order to find out what people in our town thought about Romania joining Europe next year.
We were divided into 7 groups of 3. We chose our locations and started working. We asked people questions about Europe in general, and about our intention to join Europe. We gathered valuable information and we had lots of fun while doing it.

Romania and EU - a story to remember

The big screen has always fascinated us, so we have decided that the best gift for Europe at her anniversary would be to give her the lead role in a short film, co-staring Romania. :)
We, the students of class XI F from "Ioan Slavici" National College of Satu Mare, together with our teacher, Ioana Vasut, have thought of making a film on Romania joinig the European Union.
So we started writing our script, and we did a good job, but we had some casting problems. As most of our colleagues are girls, we assigned each of them one country which is already in EU, but the European Union herself had to be acted by a boy, boys being very rare and special in our class. :)
The plot is simple, the set is splendid, the acting is good. So, Europe, here's our gift for you! :)

I Feel at Home in Europe

Initiated by Pro Europe League, this contest took place on Europe's Day. Twelve students from our highschool competed against students from nine other highschools in our city.
The students from classes XII D and XII C from "Ioan Slavici" National College of Satu Mare, coordinated by their teacher, Maria Govor, approached the various topics proposed by the contest regulations, such as: "The European Union - overall presentation", "Euro and its impact on the economical development in Romania", "Globalization", "Human rights", "Non-governmental organizations", "Volunteer work", etc. These projects, gathered in a common portfolio and being also available for a computer presentation, were shown to the students in our highschool as well, in order to acquire the practical abilities and to inform our colleagues on the work we did.

Anti-drugs campaign

"Be a European without drugs" is the slogan the volunteers from the "Ioan Slavici" National College of Satu Mare have used to promote the anti-drugs
campaign they have initiated, being supported by the National Anti-drugs Agency.
On Europe's Day, 12 students from class XII D - social studies -, coordinated by
their teacher, Maria Govor, presented materials meant to inform the students, to prevent and to stop the use of drugs. Wearing black T-shirts with "Anti-drugs"
written on them, the 12 students entered 10 different classes from our highschool between 10-11 am. The same action took place simultaneously in other 5 highschools in our city, on the initiative of the "Ioan Slavici" National College, meaning that on May 9, 60 classes of teenagers in six
highschools in Satu Mare dealt with this stringent problem of the society we
live in. Anti-drug music of famous Romanian singers was broadcast at breaks, trying to catch students' attention on the matter.
We also wished to promote the concept of volunteer work through this activity,
and we were the first to give a positive example by offering as volunteers for
this campaign.
